Special Prayers

Special Prayers for Special Times:

The truth of the matter is that there are times in our lives that are so overwhelming that we have no frame of reference to even begin to understand what is needed. It is at these times we are likely to realize our need of God. It is also at these times that you have no clue what to say to Him. You might even begin to pray and in the process of doing so struggle with the realization that it has been a really long time since you prayer or that you tend to say the same things over and over or maybe even begin to believe that He isn’t really going to listen to you because you are now only coming to Him at a time of need. Regardless of the feelings or pseudo-beliefs, you need to know the truth.

God loves you. God cares for you. God wants the very best for you… which is Him. And since He wants the best for You, He is not going to deny you when you approach Him with authenticity and humility. Therefore, rest in the truth that has just been stated and trust that He will listen to you.

I john 5:14 says, “And this is the confidence that we have before him: that whenever we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.”

What is at the heart of asking for things according to His will comes down to wanting what God wants and trusting that He has the very best planned for us… again, Himself. Therefore, when you find yourself in the toughest of the toughest situations, go to Him. When you find yourself in the situation that there are no words, go to Him. When everything around you is weighing you down and it feels like the world is crashing in on you… go to Him.

Do you want some exciting news? You should never feel guilty going to the Lord because you think you are needy. Why? Because we are always in need of Him. This never changes. To act contrary to this is actually what God despises. Seek Him as your special treasure and He will honor you.

Therefore, seek him on all occasions and especially in those special circumstances. Those special circumstances might be a need to pray for any of the following…
• Prayer for your country
• Prayer for Israel
• Prayer for Peace
• Prayer for Salvation (Your or Another)
• Prayer for Repentance
• Prayer for Revival
• Prayer for Dealing with Fear
Prayer for Protection
• and more…

Obviously, not every special circumstance can be mentioned in one posting… or even in a million postings. However, there are some keys to coming before the Lord in the midst of these situations.

Ensure that you have a clear conscience before the Lord. Confess any sin that might hinder your ability to clearly communicate and clearly hear from the Lord. Secondly, pray according to His will and for His glory. Pray with an attitude that says “Yes” even before you get the answer / direction for the situation. Pray persistently… do not give up. Lastly, pray with authenticity… do not try to impress God with your many words or large vocabulary. These are just a few keys when approaching him in the midst of these special situations.
