Today’s Prayer Of Healing

Healing, with the church culture, is very much a topic that causes a great divide. One can only assume that this has always been true. Either you find yourself on the side that believes trusts or hope or you find yourself doubting, questioning and frustrated. Because of confusion, because of manipulation by some and by unanswered prayers, many doubt.

Praying for God to heal you or a family member, friend or even someone you barely know is more than some are comfortable with asking for a myriad of reasons. You might believe that God is already aware and does not need to hear from you. Yet, if this were true, you would never need to pray because God is aware of everything and never caught off guard. You might believe that miracles ceased back in the days the Bible was being written. However, this stands in direct contrast to Jesus’ own words when he told His followers that they would do even greater signs than He. You might even believe that you are not worthy of such a miracle. Well, on this one you are correct. You are not worthy! The good news is that you never were worthy. You were not worthy when you were chosen. You were not worthy when Christ died for you. You were not worthy when you received salvation. You have never been worthy on your own. Therefore, if you are honest with yourself about the Word of God, you have no reason to not believe that God desires to give you His very best.

The really good news, is that you are only required to have a little bit of faith… amounting to nothing more than a tiny little mustard seed. So when you pray, believe. When you ask, ask for everything as it relates to His good and perfect will. Should The Lord desire to not heal in this life, it is not a cop out to say that His will for you is still bigger than you can possibly imagine. Yet, you should pray and pray believing.

Read James 5:13-18

13 Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone in good spirits? He should sing praises. 14 Is anyone among you ill? He should summon the elders of the church, and they should pray for him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. 15 And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick and the Lord will raise him up—and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. 16 So confess your sins to one another and pray for one another so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person has great effectiveness. 17 Elijah was a human being like us, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain and there was no rain on the land for three years and six months! 18 Then he prayed again, and the sky gave rain and the land sprouted with a harvest.

Prayer Of Healing :

Father in Heaven, I know that You are truly compassionate and caring. I believe this. I also believe that it is Your desire that we be healed and whole. You have instructed us to ask You for healing. In no way am I coming to You and making demands. All I want Lord is You. I want to know You and make You known. Should You desire for Your glory be made known through my sickness and pain, I trust You and ask for You to strengthen me during this. However, should You desire for Your glory be made known through my healing, I ask for that. The condition I find myself in is truly secondary to knowing You and experiencing Your joy and Your salvation. Therefore, Lord I ask that you heal me, and I believe You can and will do this. Grant me the faith and the strength to believe. In the name of Christ I pray, AMEN.
