Be Still And Know That He is God

It is normal for us to be worried when difficult circumstance arises and we tend to forget the fact that God is just a prayer away. Uttering a prayer for guidance or a prayer for healing and strength would suffice our hunger for peace of mind. Yet, most of us focus on our problem. We try to get out from that situation; looking for answers and do everything we can to solve it. And if we find that there’s no way out, we become despaired that sometimes triggers us to have suicidal thoughts, thinking that we are forever trap.
In every problem there is a solution. And if you want to talk to God, how about saying a prayer for guidance? Yet, the only formula for every challenge in life is courage. Courage is a quality of spirit that enables us to face danger or pain without showing fear. To have this great confidence is to have something to believe in; and that something will cause us victory.
A great man from the Bible who has experienced uninterrupted victory shows a great courage in his life. From nothing he became a great king; only because he has something to believe in – the One true God.
The Philistine army had gathered for the war against Israel. A Philistine giant named Goliath challenged the Israelites to fight him one on one. Saul the king of Israel and the whole army were terrified of Goliath. One day David was sent by His father to bring some food to his brothers. When he heard Goliath shouting, he said “who is he defying the armies of God”. So David volunteered to fight Goliath and King Saul agreed. David had his staff, five smooth stones in his shepherd’s bag and a sling in his hand. When Goliath saw David he despised him because he saw that he was just a boy. David confidently replied to him “I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty the God of Israel whom you have defied”. David ran quickly towards him with his stones and sling, he brought down Goliath (1 Samuel 17:32-50).
Looking in to our problem doesn’t help us, just like what Israelites did in the story. But we must be like David. We must also learn how to communicate with the Lord by uttering a prayer for guidance or a prayer for protection. He didn’t look how big Goliath was, instead he saw a mortal man who was defying God and His people. He had courage to fight Goliath because he knew he would not be alone when he faces Goliath for God was with Him. He knew God was bigger, much stronger, and more powerful than Goliath. He didn’t trust in his own strength but trusted in God’s power and what God can do. Even though he had been criticized by Goliath it didn’t stop him, but he continued believing that God will help him and fight for him.
We also face giants in our daily lives and all we have to do is to take a giant leap of faith, believing that God will fight for us and we need only to be still- to rest in His presence. A prayer for healing is what we need when we feel restless and wounded. A prayer for protection is what we need to utter when we want His unerring guidance and protection.
Always be confident because God is with you. Knowing and trusting that God is your defender alone can make you invincible!
“The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still.” Exodus 14:14
